Philips AJ300DB Dock Review 4.5/5
Whilst at University a couple of years ago I purchased this dock/clock for my iPod nano, It cost me around £50.
I remember being very impressed (and still am) with the quality of the sound that comes from the speaker. The back of the dock has some form of bass enhancement which seems to really work.
I have used this clock nearly every day for the past few years and it has never let me down. The sound quality seems to be as good as the day I got it and over the years I have used nearly all the attatchments it came with to fit every type of iPod. It even worked with my iPhone 4 which was good considering that was made years before the phone was invented!
I love the design of it and thats what attracted me to buy it. I think it can't look out of place no matter where you put it and with the remote you don't have to be near it to change tracks or adjust the volume.
The built in alarm function took a bit of time to learn how to use at the start. Its one gadget I did have to read the manual for but I soon got the hang of it.
I have never really used the radio function (hense the antenna is still packaged up) but I switched it on before reviewing and it got a pretty good signal considering the antenna is still wound and packaged up so no disappointment there.
The dock has a backlight with 3 settings - off - low and high. It gives off a nice glow and when I need a bit of light on a night I can just switch it to high and I can see what i'm doing!
Overall, I am very impressed with the unit and the price I paid! This is definatly one of the best gadgets I own.
I rate it 4.5/5. I think 5 stars should be reserved for those very special gadgets, however this came very close!
